A Polymarket YES share pays $1 if the outcome happens, so its price is
the market's implied probability. A crypto threshold market ("Will BTC be
above $64k on Friday?") is therefore a binary (digital) option. The
Black-Scholes model gives an independent fair probability from the live
spot price, the asset's realized volatility, and the time to expiry:
fair = Φ(d2), where
d2 = (ln(S/K) + (r - σ²/2)T) / (σ√T).
The divergence is market probability - fair probability.
A positive divergence means the market prices the event more likely than the
model does. This is a directional, model-dependent read (the edge is only
real if the volatility estimate is right), so it is
measurement-only: no orders, higher variance than arbitrage.
These are recorded with every measurement so runs are comparable and the model can be tuned data-driven. Version b1.
Divergence is market probability minus model fair probability. Green means the market prices the event more likely than the model; red means less likely.
